ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Texas Rangers may announce plans for a new ballpark that’ll keep them in Arlington.
The Rangers and City of Arlington will announce plans Friday afternoon.
The new ballpark would have a retractable roof, but would need voter approval for the city to pay for half of the $900 million project.
The city could pay off its share of AT&T Stadium early, and if voters approve, the half-cent sales tax could then be switched to pay off part of the new ballpark for the rangers.
Last year, the Rangers and city announced plans for a mixed use development in one of the team’s parking lots.
