AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – A man convicted of murdering a Farmers Branch woman almost two decades ago has won a stay of execution.
Charles Don Flores was convicted of killing the 64-year-old victim inside her home in 1998. She surprised him during a burglary.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals stopped the lethal injection, which was scheduled for Thursday.
Justices said attorneys for the condemned man should have more time to develop a claim challenging a prosecution witnesses who identified Flores after undergoing hypnosis.
