DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) A Dallas couple whose baby was switched at birth finally has their child at home. Rich Cushworth and Mercy Casanallas were in El Salvador a year ago when she gave birth to a son, Moses. Mercy says she was sure the baby doctors brought to her was not the one she had. The hospital insisted the baby was hers, but DNA testing later confirmed it wasn’t. She named the baby she was caring for “Jacob.” The couple filed a lawsuit and the doctor who performed Mercy’s c-section was arrested. They also returned to El Salvador to find Moses. Authorities approved his paperwork to enter the U.S. last week and Jacob’s family took custody of him. It’s not yet known whether the switch was accidental or intentional.
