FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Fort Worth’s ambulance provider gave Congresswoman Kay Granger a tour of its new headquarters on Tuesday.
MedStar Executive Director Doug Hooten said the tour was to show Rep. Granger how technology has helped the agency respond to calls more quickly. “It sort of helps us make our case for some issues that we have down the line relative to sustainability and reimbursement from the federal government.”
MedStar has moved to electronic patient records and just installed a computerized dispatch system. “It’s a million dollar software. It will be a big change to the service to have this new software that will drive everything that we do more to an integrated health care model,” said Hooten.
Rep. Granger said MedStar’s home visits for patients most likely to need an ambulance can cut costs in the long-term.
