DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas City Council is expected to vote Wednesday on the final approval that would re-shape development Northwest of Preston Road and LBJ Freeway.
The development would get rid of the once-popular but now struggling Valley View Center and replace the entire area with new retail and office space East of the Galleria.
Councilman Lee Kleinman, whose district includes the area, says Dallas Midtown has been in the works for about five years.
“There are a lot of cross ownership agreements with the property over there that had to be sorted out,” said Kleinman. “I wouldn’t exactly call them hurdles but they were just bumps in the road that had to be dealt with.”
Kleinman says Mayor Mike Rawlings is on board and the Council could give the okay for $36-million in Tax Increment Finance money. That money is expected to be made back through economic development.
