Ft. Worth (WBAP/KLIF News) – TxDOT plans to spend $70 billion dollars over the next 10 years for projects to cut down on congestion.
Val Lopez with TxDOT in Ft. Worth says that’s more than twice the amount of money they thought they’d have to work with last year, but then voters spoke loud and clear.
“Mostly due to Proposition 1 and Proposition 7,” said Lopez. “Those are propositions approved by Texas voters over the last two cycles, to give us additional funding sources, specifically from gas tax and sales tax.”
Lopez says they still have to decide which projects will get the highest priority, but they’ll work with groups like the North Texas Council of Governments to identify which projects should break ground first. He says that’ll happen in early 2017.
