FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Attorneys for the so-called “Affluenza Teen” are asking for him to be released from jail.
A motion filed Tuesday claims Tarrant County Judge Wayne Salvant never had jurisdiction to put Ethan Couch in jail or make rulings in his case.
Couch was 16 when he killed four people in a drunken driving crash in 2013. He was sentenced to 10 years probation, which sparked national outrage because many felt the punishment was too lenient.
Couch’s lawyers said he was improperly transferred to adult court after he and his mom, Tonya, escaped to Mexico.
The attorneys want all orders by Judge Salvant to be thrown out.
