DALLAS COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) Dallas County sheriff’s deputies and jail guards are asking for more money. A survey shows deputies earn less than city officers. The county’s human resources department says deputies make about $57k a year – 5-percent less than the average law enforcement officer at other agencies. Sergeants earn about $64k – nearly 6% less than their counterparts in Collin, Denton, Tarrant and Rockwall counties. Jailers in Dallas County actually make 10% more than the average jailer in other counties, but that’s still just about $44k a year. Commissioners are debating how large raises should be in the coming fiscal year for the county’s nearly $6k employees.
