Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Dallas seminary is the first in the country to make a child sex abuse course mandatory. Starting this semester, all ministerial students at the Dallas Theological Seminary on Swiss Avenue have to take a one-hour course called Ministry Safe.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the course teaches church officials how to spot potential predators and prevent organizational breakdowns that can lead to child abuse. Over the course of several videos, students will learn about the misconceptions about child predators, the grooming process and how to respond to allegations.
At the end of the course, students take a 25-question quiz. If they pass, they receive a certificate.The course was developed by attorneys Kimberlee Norris and Gregory Love. The Fort Worth couple have spent more than 20 years litigating child sexual assault cases.
