Georgetown (WBAP/KLIF News) – After two days on the run, the man accused of murdering two north Texans in Dallas and Cedar Hill is in custody. Police arrested Silvestre Franco-Luviano Tuesday night at an apartment complex in Georgetown, just north of Austin.
Georgetown police said they received a tip shortly after 5 p.m. that Luviano was in an apartment near Georgetown High School. Authorities placed the school on lockdown and nearby apartments were evacuated.
Police said that Luviano was forced to come out after a fire broke out inside the apartment. The Cedar Hill Police Department’s Lieutenant Collin Chenault said the victim’s families are relieved.
“Our hearts continue to hurt for the Bett’s family and the other victims as their lives have been forever changed. I hope that this helps bring them some closure in the process of their grieving and rebuilding their lives,” said Chenault.
He said Luviano’s multiple aliases made it difficult for authorities to identify him in the beginning. “We know that there are a number of aliases. In fact, we located an i.d. card, which we believe is now fictitious, that had another name on it,” said Chenault.
During the manhunt, authorities traced Luviano back to a house in Shreveport, Louisiana. Chenault said they abandoned that idea once a silver Lexus Luviano allegedly stole in Cedar Hill was spotted in Georgetown. Luviano is a suspect in an aggravated robbery and kidnapping in the area.
Luviano is accused of murdering Ruben Moreno of Duncanville and Walton Betts of Cedar Hill Sunday night. He is being held in the Williamson County Jail. Chenault said he will be extradited back to Dallas County at some point.
