FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – Police say a North Texas teenager was fatally shot after he and a group juveniles were passing around a gun when someone pulled the trigger.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports 16-year-old Jose Alvarez died Thursday night after being taken to a local hospital.
Fort Worth police homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman says the juveniles were passing the gun around while waiting in a car for someone.
Loughman says investigators believe at least one of the individuals in the group didn’t know the gun was loaded and pulled the trigger, shooting Alvarez.
No arrests have been made as the incident is still under investigation.
Clint Bond, a Fort Worth school district spokesman, says Alvarez was a sophomore at Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School.
