UPDATE (10:30 a.m.) – The shelter-in-place order has been lifted. Police at The Ohio State University said the scene is secure. Classes have been cancelled for the rest of the day.
COLUMBUS (CNN) – An active shooter has been reported on the Ohio State University campus, according to the university’s Department of Public Safety website.
People are urged to shelter in place and avoid the area.
“Buckeye Alert: Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College,” OSU Emergency Management tweeted.

There are reports that eight people have been taken to the hospital. One is said to be in critical condition.
A suspect has been killed, according to local media reports.
About 65,000 students attend the university. Another 45,000 people work for the school.
