DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Over 20 people connected to a North Texas medical facility have been indicted in what the U.S. Attorney of North Texas calls a massive conspiracy.
All are charged with various felony offenses from payment or receipt of nearly $40-million in bribes and kickbacks for referrals for patients to Forest Park Medical Center.
Most of the indicted are local to North Texas but one is from San Antonio, another is from Midland and one is as far as Costa Rica.
According to the indictment, the referred patients were primarily ones with high reimbursing out-of-network private insurance benefits or benefits under certain federally-funded programs.
U.S. Attorney John Parker says medical providers who enrich themselves through bribes and kickbacks are perverting our critical health care system and committing a serious crime.
