Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – It’s no secret that Denton and Collin Counties are growing like wildfire, but Mayor Mike Rawlings says Dallas has all of them beat. At his State of the City Address, he told the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce that people, and the companies they work for, believe in the city.
“Everybody says ‘well, are you counting just the City, or counting DFW’? Because obviously, DFW is hot,” said Rawlings. “The City of Dallas beat DFW overall! DFW was 3.8 (percentage of job growth), we were 4.1!”
Rawlings said over the last four years, 72 major companies had moved their headquarters to Dallas.
But he also warned that ongoing problems with poverty, the public employee pay referendum lawsuit, and the police and fire pension system could derail the City’s growth.
