Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – Homeless and family service group “Operation Care” is hosting its annual “Christmas party for Jesus” at the Dallas Convention Center on Saturday. Founder and President Susie Jennings says they’re expecting 25,000 people to be there. They’ll provide a lot of services to the homeless and families and children living in poverty.
“We wash their feet, then put on (new) socks and shoes,” said Jennings. “We give away blankets, sleeping bags, also coats and personal care items, and then we do haircuts, and Mary Kay does the makeover. Also we have food and entertainment for six hours.”
It doesn’t stop there. They offer medical and vision screenings, legal services, and even a free call home. If the homeless are reunited with their families, Operation Care provides them with a bus ticket home. Jennings says over the years, they’ve reunited several homeless people with their families.
But they need volunteers, donations and other help to make it all happen. Jennings says they need new shoes and socks, lightly used coats and clothing, and monetary donations. Click here for more information about Operation Care.
