GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF News) – Yellow crime scene tape is up around a house near Cisneros Pre-K in Garland.
“Shortly after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, we received a call about a gunshot wound at a residence in the 500 block of Ridgedale Dr.,” Lieutenant Pedro Barineau told WBAP/KLIF News. “When our officers arrived on scene, we located a male subject dead inside the location.”
The victim has been identified as John Traylor, 57, who lived at the home. “[Traylor’s] roommate was the one who called police. The roommate is being fully cooperative with police, but we’ve not ruled anyone out at this point. We don’t believe he is our suspect at this time, but it’s early in our investigation,” said Lt. Barineau.
Lt. Barineau could not disclose where the gunshot wound was located on Trailor’s body. “Based on where we are in the investigation, that is something only the murderer would know at this point in time. Therefore, we are not disclosing the location of the gunshot wound.”
Parents who dropped their kids off at the school reported seeing several police cars and crime scene technicians.
Lt. Barineau did not have information on whether police had previously been called to the home.
Anyone with information should call Garland PD (972) 485-4840 or CrimeStoppers at (972) 272-8477. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
