DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – More than 1,000 volunteers helped count Dallas’ homeless population.
Thursday night’s count was part of an annual federally-required census to track how many people have been homeless for more than a year.
The volunteers ask people a list of questions ranging from their age to whether or not they’re HIV positive.
The data helps caseworkers match homeless people with housing and services.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the official census results for Dallas and Collin Counties will be released in March.
In 2015, there were about 3,900 homeless people in both counties.
