FRISCO (WBAP & KLIF News) — A local Whataburger will be offering assistance to a recently killed police officer.
The Whataburger located off Stonebrook and Main Street on the Frisco/Little Elm border will be donating 20 percent of its earnings from 5:00 to 7:00 tonight to the family of Little Elm Detective Jerry Walker, who was killed in a standoff earlier this month.
“We see the pain, we see the hurt, and we’re all hurting together,” said Whataburger spokesperson Sabina Harris. “So we wanted to be able to give the community the opportunity to help out, and I think we’ve gotten a great response so far. I think the community will love it, and they’re definitely welcoming the event with open arms.”
She says Walker was a regular at this particular location, and that the general manager and other restaurant employees recognized his name and face when his death was reported.
“Stopping by he would grab food, he would always hold conversations with our family members,” Harris said. “He definitely was a regular at that particular store.”
The proceeds will come from both dine-in and drive-through earnings in that time frame.
