ABILENE, TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Young Isaac McFadden of Abilene awoke one morning this week and found a large rattlesnake in the bathroom toilet bowl. He told his mom, Cassie Mcfadden, who turned to one of Isaac’s older brothers and sent him to get a shovel. CNN reports she killed the snake while her husband, Jason, called a snake removal service. The serviceman checked the home thoroughly and found 24 Western diamondback rattlesnakes in the cellar, under the house and the dead one in the toilet.
The company, called Big Country Snake Removal, has a website that warns homeowners to check for snakes from time to time and don’t panic if you find them.
On their Facebook page the company explains, “Rattlesnakes are secretive and can be very cryptic — They rely heavily on their camouflage. This is simply how they survive. Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t there.”
A company spokesman adds, “Rattlesnakes are an absolute necessity for the ecosystems, and people have an irrational fear about them.”
